2009 President's Message
Inland Valley Chapter

This is the last quarter of the year ….. already!  Oh my gosh ….. unbelievable!  I have had such a wonderful year with the Inland Valley Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®.  I am just not ready to see this all end so quickly.

It’s a funny thing about being an officer for such a great organization.  You dread taking the reins and do not know what to expect.   But then you are blessed with a great team of officers, committee chairs and excited realtor and affiliate members who are having a difficult couple of years in the real estate industry, who remain steadfast and positive professionals.

You have all inspired me and made my presidential year one to remember.  So before it ends, I want to take this time to thank each and every one of you.

However, we are not done yet!  We still have a couple of months to look forward to with WCR.  We have a great meeting planned for October 21st with guest speaker, Mark Mellor who will talk about the real estate legal matters.  Don’t miss it.

In November we will have an exciting Member Orientation and Wreath Auction Holiday Party.  There will be more fun and surprises with our Chapter, so stay with us and mark your calendars as the information is distributed for these upcoming events.

In January 2010 we have another amazing leadership team coming on board, headed up by our very capable President-Elect, Yvonne Torres.  She is already busy scheduling some terrific speakers to keep us educated during this challenging and ever-changing real estate market.

So be sure to add your membership renewal with the Inland Valley Chapter of Women’s Council of REALTORS®

in your new year’s business plan.

It’s hard to believe that we have already reached the mid-way point in this 2009 year.  The first half of the year has been very exciting for the Inland Valley Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®, as we become more and more visible in the local area real estate community.

Membership is on a continued rise, we have had an even more spectacular Spring Tea than last year’s event, several great networking/orientation socials and due to our terrific line-up of amazing guest speakers, our monthly Business Resource Meetings are consistently being well attended.

Thank you to all of you who participate.

Don’t miss July’s Business Resource Luncheon Meeting

on Wednesday, the 15th at 11:30 a.m. being held At My Place restaurant in Corona.                                          Robin De-Ivy Allen will be the guest speaker,

talking about “Life Balance.”   The food is always good and  networking with fellow realtors and affiliates always a highlight of the meeting.

We promise to continue at this same pace throughout the year and to have even more exciting events for you to attend.  We offer these meetings, speakers and socials to entice those who have not yet joined to make the Inland Valley Women’s Council of REALTORS® an absolute must in your future marketing plan.

WCR’s 2009 National Mid-Year Conference in Washington D.C. was one of the best ever.   And the State WCR Conference in Sacramento, CA. provided an eye-opening respect for just how powerful WCR is on both State and National levels.  As members of this organization you are eligible to attend these business conferences and go to all the great training sessions each year.  It is at this level that the  true value of being a WCR member is most appreciated.  WCR is a force to be reckoned with.

And a word about our generous sponsors:  Please take a moment to click on the “Sponsors” tab of this website and contact our sponsors for your service needs.  We can not do the wonderful things we do without the loyal support of our affiliate partners.

To be successful realtors, we have to be good at managing our time.   And to do all the work we need to do and still enjoy our time off is an important part of  good life balance.

Mark Twain once said, “The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation.”

Please have a wonderful summer, enjoy your vacations and treasure your time spent with your families.

Inland Valley Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® has a lot to

be proud of this year.   It’s been a phenomenal first quarter for us.

We have already had some wonderful meetings with great speakers.

And we have definite plans to continue to do this throughout 2009.

Don’t miss our April Business Resource Meeting being held at the

Mission Inn on Wednesday, April 15th at 11:30 a.m.

Gov Hutchinson, Assistant General Counsel of the California

Association of REALTORS® will be our guest speaker.

The Inland Valley Chapter of WCR has an amazing Board and great

Committee Chairs that have been working diligently to make our Chapter

stronger and more vital to the community.

Our creative Membership Committee has been actively securing

new members with their “Spring Up, Bloom and Grow”

Membership Drive

that produced 14 new members already this year.

Although this drive officially ended March 31st, the door

always remains open to Realtors and Affiliates who want to be a part of

our WCR Chapter of successful professionals.

During these diverse times, selling real estate has changed in many ways

and continues to do so.  It is important that we, as active Realtors,

be constantly aware of the changes in the real estate climate so we can be

pro-active in making compatible changes in how we do our business.

The Inland Valley Chapter of WCR is helpful in this process.

We provide excellent social events that are designed to promote good

networking atmospheres with your peers.  Guest speakers selected for our monthly Business Meetings are encouraged to bring you current information in the real estate industry along with suggestions on how to motivate you on positive levels.

Undoubtedly, WCR will arm you with information and new ideas, that is our goal, but even with this help, just remember the challenging words of Don Coryell,

“The country is full of good Coaches.

What is takes to Win is a bunch of Interested Players!”

Wow!  It’s 2009 already and we are busy planning the Inland Valley Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® meetings, speakers and events.  This promises to be a fantastic year!   I am so very fortunate to have such a dedicated, talented and enthusiastic board of men and women professionals          who have “hit the floor running” to get started with a new year.  They are anxious to share with our membership and new members the many advantages of being part of our local Chapter.

Our Business Resource Meetings are mostly planned for the third Wednesday each month at a wonderful new location:  At My Place in Corona, CA.

Our first meeting, however, will be Wednesday, January 28th at 11:30 a.m. due to the WCR State & National Meetings in Monterey, CA.

The January 28th meeting will be at the new Corona location and will be a thank you celebration honoring our incredible out-going board and an installation ceremony for our new board.  Our guest speaker is an amazing lady, Barbara Safran, who is this year’s WCR State President-Elect.

As we are all reminded too often, 2009 is anticipated to be a very difficult year for the real estate industry.   But good Realtors are tough, we have seen this before and we know that we will surviveWe just have to make some changes, be wiser and smarter in doing business.

Bruce Barton once said, “ When you’re through changing, you’re through.”

You won’t want to miss the Inland Valley Chapter of WCR’s great line-up of guest speakers who will bring a variety of real estate related information to you at our business luncheons.   Knowledge is strength in this challenging market.

Mark you calendars now, we are planning another Spring Tea on

Friday, May 29th.  Last year’s first Tea event was such a success

that we are going to do it even better this year.

The “Mad Hatter Tea Party” and is going to be great fun.

I look forward to seeing you all at our WCR meetings and events.

Good Luck in 2009 ……. “Remember there is no security on this earth;

There is only opportunity!”

Jana Walchle

Inland Valley Chapter President 2008
Canyon Country Realty

Where has 2008 gone?  It has certainly been an interesting year with the housing market taking a beating and then the stock market tumbling!  And, yet, some of us are still having a good year in Real Estate!  We have had to re-think and re-group and re-energize in order to not just survive, but thrive.
I am glad to say that the Inland Valley Women's Council of Realtors is thriving!  We have increased our membership, participated in a successful Business Forum, traveled to meetings for educational purposes, raised and gave money for a charitable group and we are making our presence known in the Real Estate community.   We have had good speakers, fun mixers, and successful fundraisers!  I have enjoyed being your President this year and appreciate all of the great help and encouragement from my Governing Board, Committee Chairs and each person who did what needed to be done when asked!

Thank You!

Your new Governing Board for 2009 will be:  President Sharon Bridges; President-Elect Yvonne Torres, V.P. of Membership Yvonne Leonard, Treasurer Lily Wasluskas, Recording Secretary Mya Magleby.   There are plenty of places for each of you to serve and get involved and I hope you let
Sharon know that you are available in the coming year!    An organization is only as good as you make it, so let's just keep making the WCR better and better!

The best to each of you during this Blessed Season of the year.
