Inland Valley Chapter WCR Business Resource Meeting

Inspiration by Barb Pelland – July 2009

“Yvonne Leonard asked me to present the inspiration for today’s meeting.  I thought about going to Robert Frost, ‘combining vocation with avocation’ ….. or reciting something humorous by Will Rogers.  But then it hit me ….. all of the men and women of WCR are a wonderful source of inspiration.

In the darkest days of this hostile real estate market, (remember the days when all we wanted to do was to pull the covers over our heads and pretend it was 2004 once again),  my good friend, Lori Renberg-Brown invited me to join her at a local WCR meeting.  I sat at a table with a group of women that were also in career transition.  They spoke of modifying their business plans, attacking REO’s, never surrendering, never giving up and all with bright smiles and kind words.

I listened intently and took their lead, I adjusted my own business plan. 

Since then, I have made it a point to make every WCR event I possibly could.  In the beginning, it was a little scary and a bit intimidating being in the presence of so many successful people.  But warmth and

friendship was abundant and very soon I wanted to be a part of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®.

The monthly Resource Meetings are full of information that fuel our careers.  Everyone involved improves the level of our abilities and that helps us attain our individual goals.  Collectively, we become stronger.

On a personal level, along with hard work and diligence, my contacts at WCR have helped me double my business.  All of you, nourish my confidence.  Your assurance and poise inspires me.

I want to make a point of letting each of you know how grateful I am to be a WCR member.  It is an honor to be associated with the caliber of people present in this room today.

The members of WCR are the brightest and the best our industry has to offer.  You are out there working hard to improve our families, our communities and our country.   You are fierce career men and women that face some of the worse challenges in recent real estate history.  And you do it with a smile, kind words and an enormous generosity of spirit.  If anyone in this room needs inspiration to face the day ….. just look in the mirror.  It is the finest inspiration you can find!  And I thank you! ”
